Crossmark Policy
1. Purpose and Scope
This Crossmark Policy is established to define the principles and practices governing the use of the Crossmark service for peer-reviewed journal articles published by Numanlu. The policy aims to ensure transparent communication regarding the current status, updates, and publication records of published content.
2. What Is Crossmark
Crossmark is a service provided by Crossref that enables readers to identify the current, authoritative, and reliable version of a publication. The Crossmark logo provides verifiable information about the status of published content.
3. Scope of Crossmark Use
Numanlu applies the Crossmark service exclusively to DOI-assigned peer-reviewed journal articles.
Although DOIs may be assigned to books, book chapters, and other scholarly outputs, Crossmark implementation within Numanlu is limited to journal articles.
4. Updates and Publication Record
The Crossmark record is updated in cases involving:
- Corrections
- Retractions
- Expressions of Concern
These updates ensure transparent linkage between the article and the scholarly record.
5. Metadata and Related Information
Information provided through Crossmark may include:
- DOI information
- Publication status
- Correction or retraction records
- Links to the publisher’s core policies
Author identifiers (ORCID) and institutional identifiers (ROR) are supported via Crossref metadata, while Crossmark’s primary function remains publication status verification.
6. Transparency and Reader Assurance
Through Crossmark implementation, Numanlu commits to providing readers with clear and verifiable information regarding the status and reliability of published journal articles. This practice aligns with publication ethics and the integrity of the scholarly record.
