Plagiarism Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

This Plagiarism Policy defines the principles and practices aimed at preventing plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct in content published by Numanlu. The policy applies to all academic materials submitted, reviewed, and published within Numanlu’s publishing activities.

2. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the presentation of others’ ideas, data, text, or visual materials, in whole or in part, as one’s own work without proper attribution. Inappropriate self-plagiarism, redundant or duplicate publication, data fabrication, and data falsification are also considered forms of academic misconduct.

3. Similarity Check and Detection Tools

Numanlu employs similarity analysis as part of its preliminary and editorial review processes. For this purpose, the Crossref Similarity Check service using iThenticate software is utilized.

Similarity reports serve as supportive tools in plagiarism assessment; similarity percentages alone do not constitute a plagiarism determination. Final decisions are made through editorial evaluation and academic judgment.

4. Editorial Assessment Process

Editors assess similarity analysis results in relation to the manuscript’s discipline, type, and academic context. Where necessary, authors may be asked to provide explanations or revisions. Suspected cases are handled in accordance with Numanlu’s Publication Ethics Policy and COPE guidelines.

5. Actions and Consequences

If plagiarism or academic misconduct is identified, actions may include rejection of the submission, suspension of the review process, or, for published content, the issuance of corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern. All actions are conducted in line with transparency and academic integrity principles.

6. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original and that all sources are properly cited. The use of similarity checks does not absolve authors of responsibility for the ethical integrity of their work.
